The look of Sunset and Hollywood along with Las Vegas combined. We needed to pay a visit to Blvd Steakhouse, located in West Loop and in the heart of downtown Chicago. The two-floor swanky restaurant, includes high top and standard seating, along with a full-scale bar on the main floor and another, upstairs in the Champagne Room.
The theme inside – reminiscent of Great Gatsby of the 1950s and Hollywood glamour. It works with faniacs of Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly movies. And more special since we opted for steak in this case – as this restaurant’s name saids it.
The drinks and wine brought back good memories. For the cold winter season, we recommend the Autumn Vieux or the Sidecar Deluxe. A tasting of lemon tea for the weather, but this cocktail contains a kick/buzz feeling with hazelnut. A rye and cognac connection! Any of their “Blvd Icons” cocktails will suffice as the theme of the restaurants explains itself.
For the main courses – we stuck to the tradition of good and locally-sourced meat. We were recommended to go with the following: Filet Mignon, Bone-In Ribeye, and A-5 Wagyu. And here’s our two cents.
The filet mignon (sin bones) – a great start with added Au Poivre. Au Poivre is coarsely cracked peppercorn sauce. And recommeneded with the filet mignon. We highly recommended all-cooked at medium-rare. The bone-in ribeye, very traditional and also cooked medium-rare. All choices are sourced from Creekstone Farms.
And the bonus, A-5 Wagyu. While obviously infamous from Japan as a breed of japanese beef, the A-5 signature denotes “Japanese cow”. And one taste and one will remember it for the rest of night! And highly appreciated to be tasted slowly. The evenly-distributed fat throughout the cut is very rich in taste.
While we wished we could of stayed longer in the city, let alone this restaurant, we enjoyed our brief stay at Blvd and are thankful from the hospitality and concierge service of the restaurant.
